Foundation, Highlight and Contour Routine

Hello everyone, today I’m going to share my current foundation/highlight/contour routine that I have been enjoying. I don’t stick to the routine strictly every single day as I like to switch things up a little but this one is a no-brainer go to routine that I do 99% of the time.

As for the daily basis, I only do a very slight amount of contouring mainly because I’m not Kim K and I don’t have that much time in the morning.

So here’s a snapshot of the products I use on a day to day basis …

Primer – before foundation, I always apply primer to make sure my foundation stays put throughout the day. I’ve really been enjoying the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm as a primer. If you’re new to the YouTube/IG/Blogging world you might think that I am mental for using an aftershave all over my face but it’s been extremely hyped after the discovery of the product by NikkieTutorials on YouTube.  The high glycerin content in the balm makes it feel slightly sticky so any foundation will adhere to the skin well and makes them look flawless which it did! It also makes my makeup look great for a very long time. If you’ve ever gotten a chance to get these do try them out!

Colour Correct – I rarely colour correct but if I do I use a peachy shade under my eyes from my MAC Concealer Palette (not shown) and a green corrector from NYX for any red areas.

Foundation – I normally switch up my foundations because I have loads of them in my collection. I have a mix between high-end foundations, mid-end and drugstores and my favourite of all (currently) is my Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation. Yes, it is a very expensive foundation but I do think that higher end brands make better foundations than the drugstores so it’s worth it in my honest opinion. Of course, it’s not the case for every brand as some expensive foundations do actually suck and some drugstore foundations perform better than the more expensive counterpart! When I am looking for more coverage I will use my Estée Lauder Double Wear or a new favourite of mine which is the Maybelline Superstay 24HR Foundation.

Powder – I am a pretty pale person so I tend to steer away from pigmented powders and I gear more towards translucent powders. The NYX Cosmetics powder shown isn’t translucent but it’s pale enough for me that I can happily use them for baking under my eye area. It’s a great powder for both baking and just an all over setting powder. I usually use my original Beauty Blenders to bake or the Chi Chi Cosmetics Makeup Blending Sponge, whichever is nearest to me.

Bronzing – my bronzing routine will always change because I love trying on different bronzers! If I have to pick one though, I would definitely choose my beloved Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer. It seriously smells delicious, blends nicely into the skin, isn’t too orange and just a great colour for paler skin tone. Another bronzing product I do recommend is Nars Laguna and the Pony Effect That Girl Luminous Contouring Palette which includes contouring and highlighting shades.

Contouring – contouring isn’t something I do on a daily basis to be honest, but my favourite contouring product as of now is the Maybelline Master Sculpt in Medium/Dark. I know you’re wondering why the heck will I be wearing a dark contouring shade, the contour kit in the dark shade is grey toned but isn’t too heavily pigmented unlike the fair shade which I found very orange looking. If you’re looking for a great drugstore contour kit this would be the bestest choice. The highlighting shade is also great for a more natural highlight (although it is a little powdery).

Setting Sprays – now the last step of my foundation routine is setting sprays! Setting sprays aren’t that exciting and I have not tried a lot of them but my holy grail setting spray would be the Urban Decay All Nighter Spray. I know it’s the cult favourite of a lot of girls in the beauty community and I know why, it’s just seriously a great product. It keeps my makeup looking flawless all day. The downside is that it is on the pricey side so I’m keen on trying the newly released Gerard Cosmetics Setting Sprays which has different scents like Green Tea and Lavender. I will see how it turns out once I get my hands on them.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I’ll make sure to post an updated version of it once it changes 🙂

Being broke at uni?

As some of you might have already known, I am still a university (or college, if you’re in the States) student. There can be so many things going on at uni, whether it be doing your last minute assignments, cramming for your exams or having to choose between getting goodnight’s sleep or up partying. Now I don’t know about the rest of you but I am a serial shopper and I love to shop! I shop when I am in need of some retail therapy and I shop when I need that new dress for a party next week.

The bad news is, I am still just a stereotypical broke uni student who either spends their money on wayyy too much junk food and impulse shopping trips. As a broke uni student, I love it when I can save as much as possible on everything (e.g I buy 2 packs of Tim Tams at the supermarket if they’re having 2 for $5 so I can do a Tim Tam slam while I cry over my assignment 😛 ) and I love it even more when I can save 10-20% off my favourite online stores like Missguided, Boohoo and ASOS.

So to all the uni people out there, ever heard of UNiDAYS? You can sign up for FREE, really, for no cost at all and you can receive lots of student discounts from various different websites. Just to name a few there’s 10% off ASOS, 20% off Boohoo, 20% off Missguided, 10% off Platypus Shoes (ahem, who doesn’t want discounted Nikes and Adidas), 10% off General Pants and many others.

Thanks to UNiDAYS I can get a generous student discount for the items above (Skirt, NYX Powder, NYX Butter Gloss and The Balm Hot Mama Blush from ASOS and Ankle Boots from Missguided).

If you think you’re eligible, do click here to sign up to UNiDAYS and receive your discount codes every time you shop at the participating online stores.

Also, don’t forget to stalk their social media links below as there might be extra discounts available or new online stores added to their already massive list of participating retailers!

March Favourites

Hello everyone! I’m finally posting a Favourite of The Month blog series and for this month I’ve got a few favourites I want to share with you. I am not sure if I would be regularly posting monthly favourites every month since I might not actually have a favourite on that particular month.

As you can see above, I’ve got a few favourites ranging from Korean to Western beauty products in the mix.

CK2 Perfume – this perfume is seriously one of my favourite scents ever! It’s quite a masculine scent that’s more woody but has a slight lavender undertone to it, definitely a unique unisex scent. 50mL EDT bottle retails for  $79.95 available here

Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit – I’ve been going on and on about these lipsticks on my Instagram and they definitely made it on to my favourites of the month! I have been wearing the lipsticks non stop because they are so lightweight and long-wearing on the lips. They last for a good 8+ hours (with eating and drinking) and starts to feel a little drying on the 5th hour mark. The kit retails for USD$30 here. For a full review and swatches of the lip kit, click here.

YSL Beauty Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in no. 1 – a very easy wearing lipstick that’s moisturising and very long wearing on the lips. The shade is one of the best selling lipstick shades by YSL Beauty and I can definitely see it suits various different skin tones from the palest of the pale to a more darker complexion. The lipstick retails for $55 here.

Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup Foundation – a light/medium buildable coverage foundation that feels lightweight on the face and gives off a very beautiful skin-like finish. It’s been one of my favourite daily foundations to wear. If you have a Giorgio Armani Beauty counter available near you, definitely give this a try before committing to purchasing one. The foundation is available here.

April Skin Magic Snow Cream – a lightweight brightening cream that I use underneath my makeup as a primer. It feels really good on the skin and has a slight stickiness so your foundation adheres well. Available here.

Missha M x Line Friends Magic Moisture Cushion – a cushion foundation that is moisturising and gives off a very beautiful finish. I really like the texture and longevity of this cushion. This particular one is a limited edition but Missha still sells their Magic Moisture Cushion in a regular packaging.

Nakeup Face Waterking Cushion – another cushion foundation favourite! I love this cushion the most as you can probably tell, it’s been featured in a few of my Instagram posts. You can see my full review of the cushion here. And you can purchase them here.
