Frankly (pun intended), we all have those moments when we need some extra TLC for our skin. My skin condition changes quite drastically depending on the season, and knowing that winter is coming up very soon here in Australia, I need skincare products that can help me go through the dry and windy winter.
Most of you will probably have heard of an Australian-based company called Frank Body. They are most popularly known for their oh so Instagram famous coffee scrubs. I personally have never tried them prior but Tessa from Frank Body has been too kind and have sent me one of their Original Introduction Bundle pack (RRP $37.95) to try out. The Original Introduction Bundle pack contains 1 full sized pack of their Original Body Scrub (200gr / 7 oz) and 1 full sized tube of their Smooth Body Balm (100mL / 3.52 oz). You can purchase their bundles here.
Before getting down and dirty about the product, can we just appreciate how pretty are Frank Body’s packaging? They come in the box packaging in the cutest shade of pink then wrapped inside the lovely Frank Body doodle tissue paper. I just love the way they sent their products in! I think that these kinds of extra details reflects on the professionalism of the business and value of their customers.
I do believe that Frank Body is an honest company that makes great natural products for your skin and is not tested on animals. I have always believed in using all natural products because they contain less harsh ingredients that might irritate my skin. I am also a firm believer in taking great care of my skin, I know that my Instagram and this blog is mostly dedicated to makeup products but it is important to know that great makeup starts with great skincare routine. I always stick to my skincare routine regimen and I never sleep with my makeup on to ensure that my skin condition is as great as they possibly can.
Okay so let’s get to the products themselves..
The Original Body Scrub contains roasted and ground robusta coffee blend, cold-pressed almond oil, brown sugar and sea salt among the other great stuff that it contains. The coffee granules in the scrub is responsible for scrubbing away dry skin and targeting imperfections like stretch marks. It is known that caffeine can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks over time and the coffee granules in the scrub is perfect for this! The almond oil is responsible for moisture, so after scrubbing away those pesky flaky skin, you’re left with smooth moisturised skin. Lastly, brown sugar and sea salt acts as a natural exfoliant in the product and works in conjunction with the coffee granules to eliminate those rough skin. The scrub is vegan friendly and most importantly made locally in Australia!
I have obviously tried using my Frank Body original scrub in the shower before writing this blog post and I can tell you that I am now a coffee scrub convert. They smell glorious; like coffee for breakfast mixed with a little hint of citrus (yes, they also do contain orange essence) and they left my skin feeling so smooth and moisturised after shower. I can’t yet tell if the scrub helped with my stretch marks as I’ve just used the product for a short amount of time but I am feeling extremely hopeful as they have been so many feedbacks on how these bad boys eliminated stretch marks and scars. . The scrub is also great as a facial exfoliator and I can say that it definitely made my skin feel soft and smooth. My tip is to use a light hand when using the scrub as a facial exfoliator as it can be a little harsh on the skin on your facial areas.
The only downside to this scrub is that it’s a little messy and there’s no doubt about that. As I have said, I am always left with soft supple skin after shower when using this product but I am also left with coffee granules on my shower tiles. I mean, it takes less than 1 minute to clean them up afterwards so I don’t think it’s a big deal and it definitely still makes the product worth buying. In conclusion, shower time is definitely better when using the original scrub.
Frank Body Original Scrub Ingredients:
Coffea Robusta Seed Powder (Coffee), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Water (Aqua), Sodium Chloride (Salt), Sucrose (Brown Sugar), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Fragrance (Parfum)*
Now the Smooth Body Balm is the second step of the skincare bundle included in Frank Body’s Original Introduction Bundle. It’s an oil based body balm that is supposed to be used after shower. The Smooth Body Balm features coffee arabica seed oil that stimulates blood flow, targets stretch marks and cellulite. The caffeine content in the coffee seed oil can help improve the production of collagen and elastin. The body balm also contains coconut oil and grape seed and sweet almond oil for various skincare benefits like treating acne and eczema, repair dry skin and fight signs of ageing. I really love this body balm as it is very concentrated, so it definitely helps moisturise the dry skin around the elbow and knee area. I am not a big fan of using the product during warmer days as it can “melt” and be very runny in consistency so I am definitely saving this product when it gets colder and drier as I can see it can be one of my winter must-have skincare product. As for the vegans out there, this product is unfortunately not vegan-friendly because they contain beeswax, but other than that, the body balm gets a five star rating from me!
