Rimmel London The Only One Lipstick Review + Swatches

Hey lovelies!

I’ve just been back from my holiday trip and Coty PR has kindly sent me 6 of the newly released Rimmel London The Only One lipstick.

As most of you would know, Rimmel is one of my favourite drugstore brands here in Australia. They have a range of extremely affordable yet high quality products so I was extremely excited to try these babies out. Moreover, I am a self-confessed lipstick addict and the point is, the more the merrier (plus it means I can give you guys a thorough review of the each shade that I own)! 😜

Rimmel describes the product as the first lipstick of its kind. The Only 1 is set to challenge lipstick history. A unique multi-tasker, it excels in EVERYTHING you look for a lippie. Discover intense, high-impact shades. Enjoy an ultra-comfortable, weightless feel and indulge lips in luscious moisture. A worry free experience is guaranteed because the gorgeous colour stays put for hours and hours. It’t the only 1 that wont let you down. Our hero!

This new lip legend has an innovative hybrid formula that marries the best of moisturising AND long-lasting lipsticks:

COLOUR – Pre-coated pigments allow for fabulous full coverage in one easy swipe. The true-to-the-bullet colours are gloriously vibrant and luminous on application… and hours later.

COMFORT – The formula contains a blend of lightweight oils providing a gorgeous glide and a feather-light feel with an amazing cushioning sensation.

MOISTURE – Throughout wear, the formula with Rosa fruit oil leaves lips feeling moisturised. For extra TLC, the formula contains Vitamin E.

WEAR – A fine blend of advanced polymers sets the formula and enhances skin-adhesion for outstanding staying power. Lips feel hugged by colour and moisture for hours. **

As a girl suffering from chronic chapped lips, I am always on the hunt for moisturising lipsticks. I always find that drugstore lipsticks are not moisturising enough and by the end of the day most drugstore lippies makes my lips even more chapped than they already were (yuck!). True, there are many selections of more moisturising lippie formulas in the drugstore but they were mainly those lip balm + lipstick hybrid that most drugstore brands offer. The only problem with those lip balm + lipstick hybrid is that, to be honest, most of them aren’t that pigmented at all. If you have seen my Instagram posts and what lipstick I wear daily, you can see that I mostly wear Tom Ford, Rouge Allure Chanel or Louboutin lipsticks. These lipsticks are my go-to lippies since they offer a lot of moisture and pigment all at the same time. High end lipsticks aside, here’s what I think of the Rimmel’s The Only One lipstick: they’re as awesome as Tom Ford/Chanel/Louboutin lippies.

I find that the Rimmel lipstick glides on effortlessly on my lips, very buttery and soft. The finish of the lipstick is satin – not too glossy yet not too matte which I like. They are also extremely moisturising just like it claims and are extremely pigmented in just one swipe! The only downside to the product is that it is floral scented and that some shades can emphasise chapped lips (I will get to that below). The floral scent is a typical Rimmel lipstick scent, you would be familiar with if you’ve already owned any of their lipsticks prior. To be honest, I do not mind the floral scent at all as I am not the type of person who is turned off by scents contained in cosmetic products unless they are extremely vile smelling. Although I do know, some people are very sensitive to scents in cosmetic products and scent is a deal breaker. Without further ado, here are the product specifications, colour swatches and further information on the product.

*the ingredients in bold are the moisturising properties in the lipstick.
Top to bottom, Left to right: 600 Peachy-Beachy, 200 It’s a Keeper, 110 Pink A Punch, 510 Best Of The Best, 120 You’re All Mine, 700 Naughty Nude.

All the shades in the collection that I own transfers beautifully on the lips as I mentioned previously. They glide very well and are moisturising except the 2 colours; 600 Peachy-Beachy and 110 Pink A Punch that I was slightly disappointed in. Both colours emphasised my dry lips which I didn’t like at all. I have yet to try exfoliating prior to application but I will update you soon through one of my future Instagram posts. My most favourite colour of the bunch is definitely shade 510 Best of The Best which is a slightly darkened blue-toned Cherry red colour that is perfect for almost all skintones. It did not emphasise my dry lips at all and the satin finish makes your lips look healthy and plump.

As for the longevity, these definitely last quite a while on me (about 3-4 hour mark without touchups). Again, the shade 510 Best of The Best last the longest on the lips and did leave a slight stain that isn’t a pain to remove with a regular makeup wipe. I am definitely obsessed with this formula, particularly in shade 510 and I would recommend it to anyone thinking of purchasing a new affordable drugstore lipstick.

The Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick comes in 12 shades retailing for $15.95 each (3.4 gr) along with 3 shades of the matching Exaggerate lip liner retailing for $12.95 each (0.25 gr). They are currently available from Priceline, Priceline Pharmacy, Chemist Warehouse, Target, Kmart, BIG W, selected pharmacies and selected Coles and Woolworths.
