Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. Christmas is coming very soon and I really could not believe that 2015 is nearly over. Today, I am going to review Rimmel’s newest foundation and primer. First and foremost, I am personally a big fan of Rimmel’s face products; I own the Stay Matte foundation and powder, and both the Wake Me Up concealer and foundation. I am definitely not a stranger to Rimmel’s face products. So here are some brief information on the products..

I have not yet tried the original formula of the Match Perfection foundation but as you have read above, this version is Rimmel’s new and improved version of the original foundation. I can say that I am extremely happy with how the foundation looks like on my skin. It does exactly what it claims to do. My skin looked a lot smoother and it does not cake on my skin. The foundation also felt very light on my skin which is one of a big plus in my book as I can’t stand heavy foundations for a long period of time. Another great thing about the foundation is that it does not cling onto dry patches and blends very easily on the skin. I have dry patches from time to time, expecially around my nose so foundations can sometimes cling to them and make my makeup look unsightly (I mean, no one wants that, right?). It really perfects the skin and the foundation personally lasts for quite a long time on me (I have dry skin, so long-wearing foundation is not one of my biggest priorities, it definitely does last more than 1 working day for me).

The only two downsides that I have with the foundation, however is the colour match and the scent. I own both shade #103 Light Ivory and #200 Soft Beige. Neither of the two shades matched my skintone, although it is partly my fault for choosing the two colours. #103 True Ivory is a little too pink for my skin and a little too dark so it definitely would be wiser for me to choose #100 Ivory instead. #200 Soft Beige is definitely out of the question, being that it is too dark on me. Of course, I can definitely wear it when I have fake tan on but I rarely wear a fake tan so I might have to give it away to someone closer to #200 Soft Beige.

Meanwhile, the other downside to the foundation is the scent, although I personally do not mind the scent in the foundation. I know that some people are extremely sensitive to scents added into foundations so it is better to point it out here than saying sorry. The scent of the foundation is a typical Rimmel foundation scent; a little perfume-y and floral but will go away as soon as you apply it onto your face. Again, if you are extremely sensitive to scents you might have to skip this foundation.

Overall, I do really enjoy this foundation. It is probably one of the best affordable foundation available at the drugstores here in Australia. If you are looking for a great foundation under AUD$20, this is a great foundation to start with. The Rimmel Match Perfection foundation retails for AUD$18.95.

Available in 8 shades

The Rimmel Fix & Protect Makeup Primer corresponds with the improved version of the Match Perfection foundation. It claims to be anti-pollution, anti-stress, protective and skin perfecting. The primer is white and runny in consistency and has a similar perfumed floral scent like the Match Perfection Foundation. It gives a glowy finish and a slight cooling effect upon application which I really liked. I find that the primer does not blur pores very effectively but it does definitely prolong the wear of the foundation and gives the foundation a more even finish. One thing to note as well, the primer does not cling to dry patches and smooths out the dry patches on the skin and contains SPF of 25 which is appropriate for daily use (although I do recommend everyone to still use sunscreen underneath your makeup). The Rimmel Fix & Protect Makeup Primer is definitely one of my favourite drugstore primer that I will reach over and over again if I ran out of my Le Blanc de Chanel which is very similar to this primer. It retails for $13.95 which is an absolute bargain, and both the foundation and primer can be purchased from Priceline, Target, Kmart, Big W, selected pharmacies and selected Coles and Woolworths.

I hope that you liked the review and tell me your experiences with the new Rimmel foundation/primer if you have tried them!

*Both products are sent to me for review purposes, although no compensations have been made and all my opinions are my own.
